South Bank, Brisbane

Establishment: The Capitol Apartments
Location: South Bank, Brisbane

My husband had to attend a conference in South Bank, Brisbane, recently. My boys and I decided to tag along for some rest and relax.

We stayed at The Capitol Apartments in South Brisbane. It is a short 10-min walk away from the Brisbane Convention Centre as well as the South Bank Riverside park and restaurants area. Also just a 5-min away from the South Bank bus station and the South Brisbane train station.

During this time, we (my sons and I) mostly roamed around the South Bank area, a lifestyle and entertainment precinct with many restaurants and museums. We tried several eateries, and two that we recommend are:

1. Guzman y Gomez
Mexican fast-food; good value for money. The adult Burritos are delicious (brown rice and Avocado)

2. Chocolate Pavillion
Great for after dinner sweet desserts.

As we were there in September, we also caught the Brisbane Festival light show, held by the South Bank riverside. The sounds and light effects were great and we sat on the grass patch and ate Pizza and other snacks sold by stalls set up.

The South Bank precinct was charming and convenient, and I’d recommend the area as a base for families visiting Brisbane. Besides the Capitol Apartment, hotels such as the Rydges and Mantra Southbank are also well located, smack in the middle of the riverside precinct and restaurants.
